Our commitment

The training sessions conducted by the CropLife Latin America National Associations Network reached more than 839,000 people in 2024. Additionally, we recovered over 86,000 tons of empty pesticide containers, 80% of which were sent for recycling.

Agricultural engineers, farmers, and pesticide or crop protection product applicators were the primary audiences for these training sessions. Although the topics vary by country depending on local conditions, our key priorities include: Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles, Steps for responsible and safe application, Guidelines for the proper disposal of triple-rinsed empty containers, How to prevent illegal trade "In the past two years, we have also focused on training content related to pesticide application using drones," highlights Gabriela Briceño, Director of Stewardship at CropLife Latin America.

CuidAgro Strengthening Training in Latin America

Through the CuidAgro program, National Associations trained 317,049 people. We expanded our training coverage with the CampoLimpio program, which has been offering educational sessions for farmers and other key audiences for several years. In 2024, CampoLimpio trained and raised awareness among 522,022 people, reaching over 800,000 beneficiaries in total, Briceño emphasizes.

Messages promoting better agricultural practices are also shared online. Associations have successfully used webinars as a tool to inform and engage the agricultural sector on various topics.

Last year, over 25,500 people participated in webinars. Some associations offer short informational webinars (1-2 hours), while others conduct longer sessions over one or two days, tracking participation and providing certificates validated by CuidAgro.

Empowering Women in Agriculture

In 2024, 25% of training beneficiaries in Latin America were women who were directly or indirectly involved in agricultural activities.

Regarding online training, last year, 11,160 certifications were awarded for nine virtual courses offered by CropLife Latin America. The most popular courses include: Good Agricultural and Beekeeping Practices for Pollinator Health, Introduction to Biotechnology, Guide to the Life Cycle of a Pesticide. "We are also developing a new course on biological pest control, set to launch in April 2025," says Gabriela Briceño.

CampoLimpio Increases Material Recovery

The recovery and final disposal program for empty pesticide containers continues to grow in the region. In 2024, 86,772 tons of materials were recovered, a 4.6% increase compared to 2023.

Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico lead in material recovery volume. However, industry efforts, collaboration with farmers, authorities, and strategic partners have allowed the program to expand and increase recovery rates in countries like Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Colombia, Paraguay, and Bolivia.

A key factor in CampoLimpio's effectiveness is post-consumption regulations, which ensure that all stakeholders in the agricultural supply chain take responsibility for the proper final disposal of empty containers.

Key Achievements in 2024

81% of recovered materials were recycled. The recycled plastic is used to produce hoses, new pesticide containers, irrigation and drainage pipes, and parking bumpers.

21 new collection centers were established in Chile, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Bolivia, Argentina, and Brazil.

These advances in CuidAgro and CampoLimpio contribute to at least six Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12), Life on Land (SDG 15),Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions (SDG 16)
